Final Reflection

My blog shows a lot of things that I learned through out the year. Early in the year i learned how to put music in a video and to edit it. It helped me considerably in my first few videos. It brought a lot of excitement to some of the videos and to others it helped create a certain theme or mood. The editing was very important to these early videos. All of the cuts and edits we put to the vidoes pretty much made the whole video. The length and cuts to the music helped our videos become exciting and attractive to watch and made people laugh and be focused on either our mood/tone of the video or the value we were trying to enforce or portray. Another thing that i learned and used in my blog was storyboarding and collaborating with fellow group members. It was very important and helpful using these things. For example for our values videos we had to story board for several class periods and collaborate with our group's ideas and contributions we wanted to put in. We all came together in the end and agreed on one theme and a story to express it. It was soo much easier to just go off the story board to create the video because it was pretty much already done for us. Rather than just filming on the spot and just throwing it all together at the end. One other very important thing that we had to use and put in our videos was music. We had to go through our video footage and pick music to go with it. After we all picked a song to fit the video we had to edit it in and lenghten it to the video or pictures in it. The music was very helpful in showing some of our messages. The music could also show things such as suspense, fear, joy etc.

5. The things that i believe i learned about making videos would have to be that editing and the music can make or break a video. The music is a very important thing to a lot of viewers and catches a person's attention right off the bat. Also the music is very key in showing emotions in the actors of the video and the mood/tone. The editing is also a very crucial step in your video making. Your video would just look boring if it wasnt edited to the length of the music, The story or mood, etc. Also the edits will show your own creativity that you can put in the video.

6. This class was a good experience to me. I liked all of the new things that i learned about filmmaking and computers from being here. It was cool also to be able to work on group skills and communicating with others in this class and when making videos. Also the class showed me that practice such as storyboarding for your video can pay off in the end its worth it to actually make your video that much better to watch and make.

Abstract Video

Reflection to the "Water is Wide": 1. The story that we chose to go with the song was about the journey or cycle of a tree. It shows somewhat the life of the tree and how it goes through its days. The first part shows its early years as a seed sapling etc. Then it moves to thing it encounters such as a fear of being cut down and fire. Then it shows its great wisdom that comes with its age. And in the end it is burned/cut down and the cycle starts again. 2. I am most proud of the last sequence segment from about 3:05 to the end. We were trying to provoke the new and fresh start of life like the tree rings and the new sapling. The colors like the light coming off the tree ring seemed angelic and the color change in the spaling showed a transformation. 3. i would say all of it is abstract even the stills are abstract that didint have any change added to them. We knew that the mood had to be a certain way and used a variety of colors, shapes, etc. 4. I learned that you can tell a story with just abstract images. 5. I realized that the interaction between music and images is very unique it works great together and i didint expect it to. 6. My partner's most important contribtion was coming up with the basic idea of the story. 7. The most important contribution i made would have to be the effects that i put in the video it really helped out a lot.

Reflection: Which special effect did you use best? Describe what effect you used and why you think this worked. What mood were you trying to communicate? What idea were you trying to show by using this image and effect? The special effect that we used the best would have to be the twirl under the gpu effects in the effect control folder. The effect we used was the TWIRL and I think it worked because it was totally different than the original video and it was a wierd thing and blew my mind. The mood that we were trying to communicate was a kinda dark and mystic one. It was a lot of dark and scary trees and it went with the kinda dark theme of our stanza. The idea that we were trying to show by using the twirl was that the trees were freaky and kinda make the viewer have an uneasy feeling.
Reflection: To find the effect that we used for our sandbox samples you go to the side panel in adobe premiere after you open a new document, then you go to the video effects and open the folder gpu effects and pick one that suits your individual video. If you want to change the settings to get the effect you want you should add keyframes to chnage it throughout the clip. You might use this in a film to show an intense or different way of showing a clip so it will create a cool mood or idea when watching it. The effects can mix up your video for a better overall theme or mood
